Yes! Sun is back in Holland! Time to get some nice spring/summer outfits;)

I went to Veenendaal a few weeks ago and discovered some good new brands at the Nova Zembla store.

This store is one of my favourites in Veenendaal, like a lot of other fashion minded girls. Their collection contains over a long time brands like dept, diesel, replay, fornarina and miss sixty, but is updated recently with some good new brands!

One that caught my attention is Laundry room, a new brand which is available in a few Dutch webshops like label54, freshlabelz and the garage. The brand is known for oits feminine and romantic tops and dresses. Price range is mid-expensive and fabrics are full of quality!

I bought a ruffled top with high bow in my favorite natural color, which you will see a lot this summer..

Things to do in March

Dining

De Restaurantweek is de ideale manier om voor een leuke prijs bij de beste restaurants een 3 gangen diner te bestellen! Deze week is denk ik het meest succesvolle culi-evenement van dit moment. In Nederland wordt het voor de 8e keer en in België voor de 7e keer georganiseerd. In totaal doen er 1750 restaurants mee en kunnen ongeveer 300.000 mensen een hapje eten. Voor 27,50 euro kan je genieten van een driegangendiner en voor 22,50 van een lunch van drie gangen. Er zijn zo’n 50 restaurants met één of meer Michelinsterren die meedoen aan de Restaurantweek. Deze mogen 10 euro extra rekenen. Een voorlopige lijst van deelnemende restaurants in Nederland is te bekijken op restaurantweek.nl. Wees snel met reserveren, want vol = dus echt vol!

Movies

Dinsdag 8 maart ging de langverwachte film dan eindelijk landelijk in première! In Amsterdam was de cast uiteraard zelf aanwezig om de film te promoten in het Delamar theater, maar in de overige uitverkochte zalen in de Nederlandse bioscopen konden de trouwe Gooische Vrouwen kijkers onder het mom ‘Ladies night’ ook genieten van de film. De serie was al een grote hit en trok ontzettend veel kijkers die maar wat nieuwsgierig waren naar de dagelijkse trouble in het Gooi van Willemijn, Cheryl, Anouk en Claire.

RTL 8 zendt sinds kort alle afleveringen uit van de serie zodat we helemaal in de sfeer komen voor we de film zien.

De serie, een idee van hoofdrolspeelster Linda de Mol, gaat over het turbulente leven van vier vrouwen in het Gooi. Na vijf succesvolle seizoenen, waarmee de makers zelfs een Televizierring in de wacht sleepten, hebben de dames hun parelkettingen aan de wilgen gehangen. Gelukkig voor de liefhebbers gaan de dagelijkse beslommeringen nu verder op het witte doek. In de film gaan de vier vriendinnen op vakantie en ontdekken ze de waarde van vriendschap.

Naast de Gooische Vrouwen zelf en de vaste cast zoals Alex Klaassen, Peter Paul Möller en anderen, hebben andere bekende Nederlanders een gastrol weten te bemachtigen, onder wie René Froger, Loes Luca, Loretta Schrijver, Quinty Trustfull en Paul Groot.

Fashion

Oke, dit is dan wel de agenda van maart, maar dit event moet eigenlijk nu al aangekondigd worden.. THE FASHION LISST, Europa’s grootste Sample & Stock sale opent 1, 2 en 3 april a.s. haar deuren in de Amsterdamse RAI.

Must have items for spring/summer 2011!

Ok, since fashion week mania has just passed, let’s move on to the season that still has to come and were we need some new items in our wardrobe for!

The biggest trends in my opinion for spring/summer are:

• Flower prints with romantic silhouettes
• Nude shades in a dessert look
• Bright colours in a sporty look

About accessories: Don’t go easy on the details, you will see a lot of chunky necklaces, bright printed scarves, and high (wedge) heeled shoes! Summer glasses seems to become bigger every year, but still love them. Unfortunately they do have to fit you and match your face, so please try some on before buying them!

Since I am addicted to bags and jackets I already spotted some nice items, but I also really like the shoe trend of next season.. Wedge heels are more comfortable than normal ones, so I am looking forward to welcome some new pairs into my shoe wardrobe. Moccasins are still hot, so are the ankle boots in a lot of natural shades. The fabric you will see a lot is denim, but not only on jeans. Jackets, blouses and jumpsuit made of denim are very popular, i already noticed during my work. A denim jacket is an item every woman should have, doesn't matter what the washes or the colors are.. A vintage jacket is even more better and you should be proud of it if you have one!

The item you can’t be without in summer, is the jumpsuit. Last year it was upcoming, but now making its way trough the fashion world and I really hope you will see a lot on the streets this summer, even when its not sunny but combined with a nice jacket! I bought one last year at H&M and wore it all the time during my stay in Mexico.. Especially for a day at the beach it’s the most comfortable and fashionable piece in one that you can wearJ Supertrash has some nice ones, so do Asos and H&M. Short sleeve, blouse, long pants or short. They are available for every occasion!

Paris fashion week A/W 2011!

 Last and important part of all the fashion weeks has just ended. Many designers were excited to show their inspirations for fall/winter 2011. We couldn’t wait to see what would be the highlights this year at worlds biggest fashion event!

Clearly everybody got to know the exit of John Galliano at Dior because of some racist statements he made against people. Since the left of Galliano at Dior, the media speculates about the designer that will take his place..

Mr. Ackermann is being mentioned as a possible choice for Dior. Haider Ackermann, a Belgian guy that studied and lived is also the favourite of Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld.

The runway of Haider’s show was filled with a lot of leather, silk and suede, fabrics that will be very hot next season.. Under the sounds of Leonard Cohen’s A thousand kisses sleep, tall models walked their way over the runway with slim waists but more masculine details.

Jean Paul Gaultier honoured the older women from now by using his young models with grey, elegant hair pieces.A lot of suites, checkered trousers and blouses with high buttoned bows were spotted and tells us the show was very feminine and elegant. At the end, Jean Paul made his statement clear by letting the models carrying some grocery carts detailed with fur and silver!

The runway look I loved was the one from Stella McCartney. Day and night time looks mixed with both femininity and masculinity, some details that were seen more at the fashion week.

Daytime looks included balloon sleeve tops paired with pencil skirts or high-waist trousers. Sheer fabrics covered in polka dots and cocktail dresses with strategically-placed sheer panels made up McCartney’s evening-inspired looks.

Always something i am curious about.. It seems as a designer you were exclusive if Kanye West was not on your guest list, but i spotted some great pictures of the fashionable elite that, in my opinion, deserve to be seated front row!

Outfit of the week

Last week i went to Dusseldorf, Germany, for an appointment.. What an inspiring and beautiful city! Didn't like the all the maintenances that were on the streets, but i loved the buildings, architecture and the exteriors of stores. Ofcourse high-named brands were located on the best spots and i had to pay a quick visit to a couple of them, including H&M. The collection was similar as in Holland but you could see the style of German people is totally different than overhere! When i was in Amsterdam last week i spotted a few items at H&M i liked, but unfortunately they weren't available in my size.. In Dusseldorf though, racks were filled with these items in my sizes! My favorite one was a blouse (i'm addicted to blouses) in a coralish color. I loved the fabric and its quality, it's made of silk, together with the design. Today i wear it with my new Supertrash jeans under a cardigan.

I hope spring will arrive soon, because i already updated my wardrobe with a lot of items for this season!
When the temperature is going up, i think this blouse will fit perfectly with white jeans and some nice sandals..

My thoughts are in summer, my wardrobe is almost let it begin as soon as possible!

Conscious collection @ H&M

Since a couple of years, H&M is starting to use organic and environment friendly fabrics for their clothes. Organic cotton is something that is a pretty well-knowned term inside the H&M culture. However, this year H&M will launch a complete collection with environment friendly and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. Eco smart materials are not old fashioned anymore, but are making their way into the fashion world and will become huge this year.

“By designing recurring Conscious Collections we have the opportunity to show in a variety of ways what’s possible using more sustainable fabrics,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M Head of design. “Shades of white are the season’s biggest fashion trend and it feels right for this collection. White creates a romantic feeling with lace and Broderie Anglaise, but is also the basic colour in a sporty, relaxed style and in a preppy tailored look for men.”

Women’s collection is inspired by this seasons trends, with a lot of blouses, tunics and t-shirt in a romantic style with light and natural shades. In 2010, H&M also launched “the garden collection” which was also based on the use of environment friendly material.

Tassengekte..

Handbags, clutches, totebags, shoulder, one-strap etc.. Er zijn zoveel verschillende modellen, kleuren en stijlen dat er voor iedere vrouw op de wereld een tas is die precies bij haar past.. Wat hebben vrouwen met tassen en wat hebben tassen met vrouwen?? 

Ik heb altijd een tassentic gehad, vanaf vrijwel mijn 13^de levensjaar toen de fascinatie voor de modewereld begon. Voor mij is een tas een bijzonder stuk dat bij mijn meest gedragen kledingstijl past gedurende meestal 1 seizoen, maar het representeert ook een belangrijke gebeurtenis als reden dat ik de tas heb gekocht. Natuurlijk koop ik wel eens kleine tasjes voor bij een bepaalde outfit, een sport- of een strandtas, maar het meest gedragen exemplaar is ook gelijk de duurste en heb ik bijvoorbeeld gekocht van mijn 1^e loon, als trots op de kop getikt tijdens een stedentrip, als cadeau na mijn verjaardag, of als afsluiter en beloning van bv. Een stage. 

Nu zijn het geen designer bags van Louis, Gucci of prada, maar wel kwalitatief goede tassen die compleet naar mijn smaak zijn. Zo heb ik tijdens een stedentrip/werkweek naar Berlijn een unieke Limited edition H&M tas op de kop getikt.. Deze tas was een stuk uit de collectie van Margareta van den Bosch, destijds hoofdontwerpster van H&M. Zij had een lijn gelanceerd met stukken waarvan de kleur, stof , kwaliteit en het model haar favoriet waren en  bracht dit uit in zeer gelimiteerde oplage in geselecteerde winkels. De tas was van echt leer met een slangenprint en het model was helemaal naar mijn smaak! Natuurlijk een stuk duurder dan normaal, maar het was het waard. Ik heb die tas (voor mijn doen) ontzettend lang gebruikt totdat er een paar slijtageplekjes inkwamen, maar ik moet zeggen dat hij nog in zeer goede staat is! Af en toe zie ik hem liggen en neem ik hem weer eens mee als het een match is met mijn outfit.  Zo zie je maar, kwaliteit is zeker belangrijk bij een tas, zeker als je hem vaak gebruikt. Maar het verhaal erachter vind ik ook erg belangrijk en maakt dat ik hem elke keer met plezier draag.

Maar.. ik verwacht wel binnen enkele jaren trotse eigenaar te zijn van een designer bag!

Niet om de naam, maar de modellen en ontwerpen die elke keer weer vernieuwen bij bijvoorbeeld een paar van mijn favoriete merken: Gucci, Liu Jo, Micheal Kors en Louis Vuitton zijn echt mijn stijl. Als ik iemand op straat zie lopen met een mooie designer handtas, kijk ik even om en bekruipt mij wel een beetje een jaloezie gevoel.. Misschien heeft die persoon er keihard voor moeten sparen, maar dat moet in de meeste gevallen toch? Kijk naar mannen die vol trots in hun nieuwste Audi, Mercedes of BMW rijden, misschien hebben ze er zelfs een lening voor moeten afsluiten en wonen ze in een 1-kamer appartementje in Amsterdam-Noord. 

Maar toch, de vrouwen die deze tassen dragen doen dit vol trots en terecht! Ooit zal je aan mijn arm ook een LV’tje zien bungelen en deze ook vol trots dragen. Nu moet er alleen nog een gebeurtenis plaatsvinden waarbij ik echt de reden heb om deze aankoop te doen;) Want, alleen dan is het voor mij een pronkstuk! Ben benieuwd naar de verhalen achter tassen van andere fashionista's.. Let me know!
